Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has its belt ranking system divided by kids and adults.
Sampa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has its own belt system, very similar to the official one regulated by IBJJF. In Fact to make it simple any belt a child student receive before the Grey/White Belt is part of our Sampa System Belt. Usually kids will receive two belts before the first official belt.
Also, NO CHILD can be a Black belt per the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation).
It is a great discussion and every parent should understand before brag that their kids are black belts is that no legit martial arts will give a black belt to a child as a child can’t be their own guardian, nor drive a car legally etc, etc.
Four Adults we also have our own system during white Belt, just because it takes from white to blue around two years. So, we decided to create our own system to motivate our students. Our goal is to keep students and make them black belts and not only filter the tough ones. So, any belt an adult student receive before the Blue belt is part of our Sampa System and it can be 3 to 4 belts depending on the student performance.
After 4 stripes, any student is eligible to receive a new belt but not entitle, the coach is the only one responsible to decide if the student is performing properly for that belt.
Eligibility not entitlement, we do not sell programs with a promise of getting new belts. This is not how we do things here at Sampa BJJ
It gets more and more strict about the performance as the student advances in belts.
