Last December at Sampa we had many great events. Starting with the annual Glendora Christmas parade, It was great to count on great support from our students walking along with us in the parade, kids had a blast Parents walked with us and celebrate not just this event for the city of Glendora but one more Year full of Jiu Jitsu.
Every end of the year students look forward to walk with us at the Glendora Christmas parade.
Right after the Christmas parade prof. Renato and Sensei Elton headed to the Judo Winter Nationals Judo tournament to compete in the masters division, it is gratifying to have our own coaches to win first place (prof. Renato) and second place (sensei Elton) in their division.
Just a week later in December 15th, Sensei Elton competed at the IBJJF – Jiu Jitsu No Gi World Championship and got first place in his weight class at the masters division, Brown Belt.
We cannot forget to mention our holiday sale! Where many parents came to take advantage of 25% off memberships and discounts up to 50% off on gear and equipment.
Sensei Elton is a very renown judo athlete worldwide, having experienced himself many tournaments and winning World championship Multiple times at the masters division, as well military games and when he was Junior (Under 20). He also have lived in japan for 4 years studying and competing for the Kokushikan University, learning Physical education. With that all being said we offered a great judo crash course that started in early December all the way to February.
After Christmas and New year’s eve we dived straight to January offering one of the best promos: Six weeks trial for $69 and Uniform included (We usually do not include the uniform), and we had over 50 people coming and trying out our classes.
Many new faces joined the adults class and we are very excited to have them continuing their Jiu Jitsu and fitness journey after their trial.
In January 11th Professor Renato came back from Brazil after the holidays and his training camp. He had the chance to train at Sampa Brazil (Ribeirao Preto) and check their skills as well train Capoeira and develop a program/basic curriculum for the after school kids.
January also was the beginning of a new era for our after-school program, as we started being a heritage school, we start teaching Portuguese and Brazilian culture to the kids as well we updated our after-school curriculum. This way when the kids arrive first thing they get on the mat to practice any physical activity not related to BJJ (disciplines like karate, Judo, Wushu-Kung Fu, Kali, Yoga and Capoeira) during their break they learn the Portuguese/Brazilian Language as well its culture. We have found out that this way our kids do not get bored and will have exposure and experience in many different styles of martial arts bringing them at the end of the year/course a great motor skill.
Already in January despite the trials was ours barbecue barbecue And the international Judo challenge whereYes where we had the privilege of having Mr. Gary Goltz from Goltz you do in the Mr. Paulo Fernando from San Diego BJJ just support Our veterans/forward masters Judo challenge they do the challenge is a training where many people in different cities in the world and the Masters division train Judo to support the cause of masters and veterans training The results were incredible with over 4000 people training Judo all over the world that same day if you finish with the barbecue because was the last week of Sensei I’ll do my here in the clothes Siri Moni of the Judo course We had Professor made them being promoted to show done show then resonate Judo black beltBelt and choose students Paul and Geo been promoted to brown belt brown belt we are looking forward to have to say all done coming back Next year or early in December for one more Judo CrashCourse
