This Father’s Day, the mats at Sampa Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts in Glendora and Fontana were filled with something even more important than techniques and training—family.
Our annual Father & Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Event brought fathers and their children together for a unique training experience that celebrated teamwork, leadership, and the special bond between parent and child. Dads stepped onto the mats, learned alongside their children, participated in drills, and experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards that their kids encounter every week in class.
For many fathers, it was their first time training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. For others, it was an opportunity to reconnect with martial arts while sharing a meaningful activity with their children. Regardless of experience level, every family left with memories that will last far longer than a single class.
Earning the Camouflage Belt
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Camouflage Belt to participating fathers. The camouflage belt symbolizes many of the qualities that great fathers demonstrate every day: protection, resilience, leadership, sacrifice, and the willingness to lead by example.
Just as martial arts teach students to face challenges with courage and discipline, fathers serve as role models who guide their children through life’s obstacles. The camouflage belt was our way of recognizing that commitment.
Why Family Training Matters
At Sampa Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts, we believe that martial arts is about much more than self-defense. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches valuable life skills such as:
- Discipline
- Respect
- Confidence
- Perseverance
- Problem-solving
- Emotional resilience
- Healthy habits and fitness
When parents participate in the learning process, these lessons become even more powerful. Children gain confidence when they see their parents stepping outside their comfort zones, learning new skills, and embracing challenges with a positive attitude.
Events like this strengthen families while helping children understand that growth is a lifelong journey.
Building Strong Families Through Martial Arts
For more than a decade, Sampa Jiu Jitsu has helped families throughout Glendora, La Verne, San Dimas, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, and the surrounding communities discover the benefits of martial arts training.
Whether students are interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Kickboxing, self-defense, fitness, or character development, our mission remains the same: helping people become stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Seeing fathers and children train side by side reminds us why we do what we do. The techniques learned on the mat are important, but the relationships built through training are what truly make martial arts special.
Thank You to All the Fathers
We would like to thank every father who participated in this year’s Father & Kids Event at our Glendora and Fontana locations. Your willingness to step onto the mat, support your children, and lead by example made this event a tremendous success.
We look forward to continuing to help families grow together through martial arts and creating many more unforgettable memories in the years ahead.
